In partnership with Digital Commonwealth, the Boston Public Library (BPL) provides digitization and digital asset management services to Massachusetts cultural heritage institutions as part of its Library for the Commonwealth program. These services can include collection assessments, project planning, digital imaging, and hosting digitized content. For more information, visit BPL & Digital Commonwealth Statewide Digitization: About the Program.
To apply for digitization services: please complete the Boston Public Library/Digital Commonwealth Digitization Request Form and Service Agreement.
Members may contribute digitized collections to the publicly-accessible Digital Commonwealth collections site in several ways:
Hosted Collections - For institutions that already have digitized materials and accompanying metadata, and are looking for a digital object management solution
Harvested Collections - For institutions that host their own digital collections and can make metadata records available via OAI-PMH harvesting
For information about metadata requirements for items included in the Digital Commonwealth repository, see Metadata Requirements & Guidelines.
