Membership Application

Membership dues are based on “Annual budget” which equals the overall budget for your library and archives (materials and staff) or for entire organizations that lack a separate library and archives. Academic institutions should use the budget for all of their institution’s libraries and archives. Sponsoring organizations are networks that plan to work with and assist their own membership to join Digital Commonwealth. Volunteer organizations receive a special rate for their first membership year.

All memberships run for a 12-month period.

Consortia - $750.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year No automatically recurring payments Digital Commonwealth strives to make its collections, resources, and programs available to everyone who is interested in the Massachusetts Collections Online. Digital Commonwealth aims to reach non-member libraries/organizations through consortia but encourages individual library membership and participation. The Consortia (e.g. SAILS and MLS) membership level will provide eligible groups with the same privileges as other membership levels. Participation at this level does not imply that membership for individual affiliated libraries/organizations is included. The Digital Commonwealth Membership Committee will review eligibility criteria for interested Consortia. Benefits include: Member pricing for consortia staff for DC events; Advance notice of events; Notification of DPLA events and programs; Access to member-only events for consortia staff. Memberships run for 12 months from the time you sign up and/or renew.

Volunteer Institution Membership - $50.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year No automatically recurring payments "Volunteer Institution Membership" = no paid staff

Friends of Digital Commonwealth - $35.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year No automatically recurring payments Purpose: Digital Commonwealth strives to make its collections, resources, and programs available to everyone who is interested in the Massachusetts Collections Online. The Friends’ membership level allows individuals who are either not associated with an institution or associated with an institution that is ineligible to join Digital Commonwealth, to become members.

Benefits: The Friends’ membership will provide eligible individuals with the same privileges as institutional membership, except for voting rights. The Digital Commonwealth Membership Committee will review eligibility criteria for interested individuals to ensure that individual eligibility is maintained. Benefits include: member pricing for all DC events; advance notice of events; notification of DPLA events and programs; and access to member-only events.
