About Us

Digital Commonwealth needs your help!

Digital Commonwealth is excited to announce several openings on our Board of Directors and on our Committees for FY24!

Board Member Applications

Anyone from a current Digital Commonwealth member institution is encouraged to submit their name for consideration for a board position. We aim to have a board that is representative of the communities we serve across Massachusetts and of our member institutions, and to have a balance of skills and experience in the GLAMs fields.

A term is expected to last for a minimum of two years, many terms last three years, and some board members serve longer if they wish to participate at the Executive Committee level. We currently meet monthly on the third Tuesday of every month from 10 AM – 12 noon. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, meetings have been held via Zoom. Board members are also expected to serve on at least one committee. On average, board members devote about three to four hours per month to Digital Commonwealth.

Serving as a Digital Commonwealth board member allows for fantastic professional networking opportunities; opportunities to be engaged in the creation of professional development programming; providing support and informal mentoring to fellow GLAM professionals; opportunities to be professionally engaged in digital asset management, accessibility, and the delivery of (digitized) primary source instruction.

If you are interested in joining the board of Digital Commonwealth, please send a short statement explaining why you would like to serve along with a resume by June 1 to Kate Boylan at nominations@digitalcommonwealth.org. The current board will decide on new members at the monthly meeting on June 20, 2023.

Committees

Please also reach out if you would be interested in more information about joining one of our year-round committees. Oftentimes, committee members are folks interested in learning more about the Board, but cannot commit to three to four hours per month of board + committee work.

  • Membership, Outreach and Education

  • Repository

Most committees meet once a month via Zoom. We are always interested in more people for these committees, and they do not have a nominating process. Your institution does not need to be a member in order for you to serve on a committee (though we hope you will consider membership!)

Thank you for your consideration. Please be in touch should you have any questions!

Sincerely,

The Digital Commonwealth Board of Directors
