Tour with Digital Commonwealth!

One of our longest standing members, the Peabody Essex Museum's Hawkes Collection Center, has graciously offered to provide a behind-the-scenes peek at their Center's digitization facilities! Jennifer Hornsby, the Reference & Access Services Librarian at the Center, will guide us through their in-house digitization process, the lab, and their collections.

There will be two tour sessions at the Hawkes Collection Center in Rowley, MA on Monday November 18, 2024. Each session is limited to 14 people.

Session A runs from 10 to 11 AM, and Session B is from 11 AM to 12 PM.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not the Museum located in Salem. The Hawkes Collection Center is located in Rowley, MA. The address is 306 Newburyport Turnpike, Rowley, MA 01969. Newburyport Turnpike is Route 1. Here is a Google Maps link for your convenience.

Meet the team in the Philips Library in the Hawkes Collection Center to start the tour. Please feel free to stop by between 10 AM to 12 PM to say hello, talk shop, and meet some new faces - we will have snacks!

Please register for one session. If you are unable to attend, please unregister for the event so those on the waitlist can register.

Jennifer Hornsby is the Reference & Access Services Librarian for the Phillips Library, and spends the majority of her time at work in the reading room. She first became acquainted with the library as a manuscript processing intern in 2011, before officially joining the library in April 2013 as a NHPRC grant funded manuscript processor. She has a BA in History from Union College, and a MS in Library Science from Simmons College.
